The big election day is almost here. This election is somewhat of a referendum on Donald Trump even though Trump isn’t running. All of the Republicans following Trump over a cliff will be the victims.
The American people are the victims of a corrupt and evil system no matter which party wins. You could also say that many foreigners are victims as well.
Trump’s foreign policy is the primary reason that the Republicans will do so poorly. It is his foreign policy that has contributed to higher prices at home. His approval ratings were generally over 50% right after he took office in January 2025. Almost two years later, his approval ratings are around 30%.
It is important to realize that this translates into tens of millions of people who once approved of Trump who now disapprove of Trump.
If you talk to 10 people correlating with these samples, 5 out of those 10 people hated Trump’s guts before his second term started, and they still hate his guts. 3 out of 10 people really liked Trump 2 years ago, and they still really like him today. (I’m not sure how.)
You also have 2 out of 10 people who generally approved of Trump almost 2 years ago who now generally hate his guts, or at least disapprove of the job he is doing. This is a major swing in a relatively short period of time.
Democrat Sweep
I have been predicting for a while now, especially since the attack against Iran in late February 2026, that the Republicans would get obliterated in the mid-term elections. I believe that the Republicans will lose both the House and the Senate.
I am less clear on state races such as governor and state legislatures. I don’t know how much the hatred for Republicans will trickle down to more local races.
In my home state of Florida, I have received many mailers and seen many commercials on television and YouTube. The ads for Byron Donalds for governor emphasize that he is endorsed by Ron DeSantis. They say nothing about Donalds being endorsed by Trump, even though it was Trump that gave him a very early endorsement to get the Republican nomination.
I believe that DeSantis is far more popular in Florida than Trump is at this point. Florida has turned into a strong red state, especially since COVID. I think it is likely that Donalds will win the governorship.
This will not be the case for Vivek Ramaswamy, who lost his salesman touch. He ran an absolutely terrible campaign, and he will not be the next governor of Ohio. Instead of sympathizing with the struggling middle class, Vivek took the route of lecturing people to whine less and work harder. He also was incredibly politically stupid to run a distasteful ad against his opponent.
I never fully trusted Vivek. I would hear him on libertarian podcasts saying most of the right things. Then I would see a clip of him on Fox News where he sounds more like an establishment Republican. Playing every side seems to have caught up with him.
Consequences
Just as Biden, Harris, and the Democrats all deserved to be soundly defeated after COVID, Gaza, Ukraine, etc., so goes the same for Trump, Mike Johnson, and the Republicans. They have given us a continuation of Gaza and Ukraine, more massive spending, tariffs, and many new foreign interventions, particularly in Iran.
I don’t want the Democrats to win this week, but I do want the Republicans to lose. I hope that Libertarian Party candidates get a larger-than-usual percentage of votes. I say this knowing that there are many Libertarian candidates with their share of flaws.
Trump needs to be absolutely repudiated for his disastrous second term. He deserves to be impeached. He should be imprisoned, but not for all of the stupid things the Democrats try to get him on.
I have heard all of the Republican talking points. By not voting for Republicans, I am supposedly voting for Democrats. Actually, I am voting for neither.
The Republicans say that if the Republicans lose then we will get more wokeness, more socialism, etc. It may be true. And Trump likes to kill little girls in Iran going to school and then lie about it. Sorry, I have my moral lines. When you kill little girls and lie about it, I just don’t really feel like voting for all of your apologists out there.
Trump will still be the psycho-in-chief for the next two years unless something happens to him. I’m sure the country will elect a Democratic psycho-in-chief in 2028.
As for me, I just can’t vote for anyone right now who supports this foreign policy or the Trump regime in general. I also can’t vote for the woke socialists, not to be confused with the more politically-incorrect socialists from the Trump crowd.
The bad news this week will be the Democrats winning in a big way. The good news will be the Republicans losing in a big way.
